Include horizontal load in combination

Good morning,

I am using Autodesk Structural Bridge Design to design a railway deck, it is a PCC beams. I am using Eurocode. I found very easy to apply the vertical rail load as the software has all the configuration inside. (the LM71, derailment, SW0, SW2…) up to there all fine. Also, I found wonderful how the program generate the structure compilations moving the loading across the span. (with the envelop and the combinations)

My problem came when I want to apply the horizontal load. This horizontal load should be included in the combination. I think I can create the load cases but, how do I include this load into the load combination? Do I have to include this load manually in each compilation?

Does anyone has some recommendation about how to include the horizontal loading?

Also in this project I need to use two codes as, it is an existing structure, is there any way to mix codes? I need to use Eurocode but instead LM71 I will need the RA10 (Networ Rail Codes)….

Thank you in advance for any support.

Hi, I believe that adding the horizontal live rail loads will need to be added manually to each live load compilation. If a number of the horizontal loads are the same for each vertical compilation then these can be added to a separate "other" compilation with just these loads (using the appropriates factors). The loads in this compilation can then be added to each vertical compilation by using the "Add from Compilation" button in each vertical compilation definition form. I know that this is a bit inconvenient but I think it is the only way at the moment. I hope this helps and if this has answered your query then please mark this post as a solution so that others can find it more easily. Thanks Kind regards Dave Geeves
