Error below shows up although there is not hogging moment in that section. The clause called out (AS5100.5:Cl.8.1.4) does not seem to match error- check for hogging.
Hi,
I have not come across this before and it is difficult for me to make any investigations without the data file so that I can reproduce it and look at the results. I don’t have a copy of the latest version of AS5100 (just the older one) so I can’t check to see if the appropriate clause has changed between the two versions of the standard. Could you please zip up your data file and attach it to a reply to this post and I will continue to investigate. My initial thoughts are that if you are using the latest version of AS5100 and have set this correctly as the code to use in the software, then this may be an old error message left in the software referencing the older version.
I look forward to receiving your data file so that I can check it out.
kind regards.

Hi,
You didn't post your data file so I was just wondering whether you had sorted this out yourself?
Kind regards

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your reply.
I have attached the file to this reply if you could please take a look.
Kind regards,
Hi,
First of all my apologies for not responding sooner, I hadn't noticed your reply, and tanks for sending your data file.
Using the latest version of the software (2022) I can reproduce the error message but it refers to AS5100-5 Cl.8.1.6 (not the 8.1.4 that you were getting), but as I don't have a copy of the latest AS5100 standard I'm not sure if that makes any more sense. I was also hoping to find some reference to this in the printed results but there doesn't seem to be anything. I also tried changing the design code to the 2004 version and the error seems to have disappeared so I can only assume it is a new check that didn't exist before.
I can only assume that this is a defect but it would be good to get some explanation from the developers to confirm what is going on. Hopefully they will respond to this post.
Sorry I can't be any more help.
Kind regards
Dave Geeves
Hi,
1) "AS5100.5: Cl.8.1.4" is referred when Edition 2004 is selected. When Edition 2017 Amd 1 is used this message updates to "AS5100.5: Cl.8.1.6." (Minimum strength requirements) .
2) SBD failed to identify sagging/hogging sections properly for this warning, because the sign of the live load component was checked instead of the total moment. Thanks for letting us know, we have fixed the issue.
