Hi,

By default, materials use an "opaque" transparency  mode. That means that every pixel is either fully opaque or fully transparent. If you look in the material's shader node graph, you'll see that there's an Opacity Threshold on the output node. If the Opacity input for a pixel is below this threshold, the pixel is fully transparent. If the Opacity is above the threshold, the pixel is opaque.

What you'll want to do is select the Standard Base output node, and look in the Property Editor for the Blend Mode setting. Change it from Opaque to one of the other values, Transparent, Transparent Fade,or Transparent Add.

More details available in the node reference here:

http://help.autodesk.com/cloudhelp/ENU/Stingray-Help/shaders_ref/cat_Output.html#node_Output___Stand...

or use the Standard Transparent material as the parent material:

By default the material is opague meaning its either 1(full apperance) or 0 (hidden)  and commonly used for alpha maps, you need to change the material preset to something like transparent or translucent. by selecting output base and changing its material preset in property editor.

In the material editor, you can select the node "standard base".  Once you select the node, you can select the the transparency mode.  Selecting one of the transparent modes will give you the result you are looking for.  Likely transparent fade.  Good luck.
