Hi,

I am starting to learn Stingray. I am trying to import Navisworks and other CAD data through fbx format. I am able to import it but then I try to open it in unit editor and I always got this error. What could be wrong? I can open simple units like sphere but not mine imported 😞 And they look fine when I look at them in 3ds Max for example.

Thx,

Matt

I would need to either see the model or at least see your error log to help yo on this.  There are many reasons why a model may fail to open, but generally we have some information to go on in the error log to help understand the problem.

Hi paul,

I attached the fbx model. Its test model that I got from Autodesk so it should be fine. I have it originally in Navisworks and Im trying to get it and use it in Stingray.

I just imported with no issues.  Tons of redundant textures, but no errors or warnings whatsoever.

Try creating a new project and importing it in there.  See if you get any errors.

Hi, thx for your help But importing is not a problem. I also imported is fine. I have VR template where I import this, create blank level and import this model in it. Now I want to walk in it, so I need to edit the floor in unit editor and thats where the problem is. I can't edit it in unit editor. Can you?

I'm having the exact same issue. I loaded this same model that im using before with no problem. I re-imported it with no changed settings and now it just decides it doesn't want to open.

BUMP!!

Same issue in Max Interactive 2019.  Unit imports fine, no errors or warnings.  Opening the unit fails.  No more information than that, nothing in the error logs.  I find it unacceptable that no one has looked into this thread even though it has been bumped up several times in the last 6 months or so.

Ok, got it to work but had to combine meshes by materials when importing the model. Works for me, not sure if it will work for everyone.

I had the same problem and could find a solution. The problem is the name of the objects. It seems to be a problem with special characters. For example the standard parts from inventor. Just rename the objects and the unit editor should open without any errors.
