I have experienced a similiar phenomenon. On my main rigg I have a hyperthreaded 6 core and stingray runs like a charm. However my laptop (i76700hq, gtx 950, 8GB DDR4) becomes a turbine engine haha, even with very simple scenes. I have to close stingray every 10-20 minutes or so because otherwise the latptop gets way too hot. I have heard other people, including some of my college buddies report this aswell. Your are defeinitly not alone with this guilhermefsmiguel.

Cheers!

Hi Dr. Peauts,

About our problem, I checked here that your processor also has a Intel Video Card ( Intel® HD Graphics 530. So please try what I suggested on one of my last posts, that is:

In your project file settings.ini, change the adapter index from 0 to 1.

It should improve your performace, and also make your laptop not so hot by doing it.

But, be carefull. In my case, as shownd on this video ( https://youtu.be/YaJRHbAnAKU ), when I oppened ANY window in front of Stingray, it chrases the Engine.

BTW, I must ask you: Are you a PhD or it is just your character name?

My username it is My name followed by the first character of my middle names and my last name, so you can call me Guilherme with no chance of getting a mistake.

I will continue testing some stuff here and let you both Paul and Dr. Peanuts know about the results.

Best regards,

haha no,there is still quiet a ways to go for my PhD. Currently just CS uni student going for a bachlors, so its just  a silly forum name(Maybe I should change it if it makes me look smarter than I am haha )
Setting the adapter setting to 1 definitly helped. I guess this partly explains why the performance on my main rigg was so much better, it does not have an integrated gpu.

Thanks for the time and effort you are putting into this!(same goes for the Autodesk team aswell!)

Paul, as you may see, I found a partial solution for my problem.

I have recorded a screencast. If possible, please try to help me to find solutions to this strange behavior.

I have posted an youtube private video, but then I found that the engine was crashing because windows7 Aero Desktop was off.

Now it doesn't crash the engine, but... if I terminate the engine or switch to another windows then Level viewport, it starts consuming 20% - 25% of my CPU.

If I stay working with the Level viewport, stingray-editor.exe uses about 5-10% of my CPU.

Thank you !

I am going to see if I can get one of the engineers to take a peek at this.  I have exhausted my knowledge base and have nothing further to lend at this point.  Maybe somene else does.
