How to create linear strip lights in an evening setting

I'm trying to create a setting that's in the evening so the room/space is darker but I can't figure out how to change that. There are no spotlights on but seem there's a default light.

Also, I'm trying to create linear strip lights, like under the stair treads to show the illumination of steps or under the handrail but I can't figure that out either. All I see are spotlights or omni lights. I work in 3dsmax with vray. I imported the handrail with a vray light material which shows the light but not the illumination itself that shines on the steps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

David

Hi @reddymade

Great to hear from you on the forums! Did you have to convert the V-Ray lights to import into Interactive? I know there's a way to create a day/night cycle using 3DS Max Interactive, because I have seen @gustavo.bergoya create some pretty awesome Interactive experiences.

Gustavo, do you have any insights into changing the word lighting to a night scene inside Max Interactive?

Hi Hagen and Reddymade

Attached I sent a video that shows a small example of lighting in 3ds Max Interactive. Then I can if you want to send them another video that shows how to make the animation of all the elements of the scene.

I applied:

1 - Directional Light

2 - Spotlight

3 - Material emissive

4 - Clouds plugin

regards

I created a video showing how to create the effect of strip lights and also change the global lighting effects to make it look more like evening

Long story short, use emissive shaders

EDIT:

Looks like Gustavo beat me to it! I'll leave my post here regardless as there's no such thing as too many videos?

I'm sorry but i wasn't clear enough I assumed that this was the stingray forum that it'd be a solution for it, not 3d max. I actually meant how to create linear lights in stingray. The box light creates parallel lights but it's not realistic like a spotlight.

Hi Reddymade

This is Stingray... Stingray change name to 3ds Max Interactive.

I used 3ds Max Interactive and Ben used 3ds Max to export the elements to 3ds Max Interactive and create the light scene

Hi @reddymade

I wanted to follow up and see if you were able to resolve your issue using the information within @gustavo.bergoya and @BenBisares 's videos?

Do you have any follow up questions in regards to either of these workflows?

Please select the Accept as Solution button if a post solves your issue or answers your question.
