Windows 10 and Maya 2016 Extension 2 - with Softimage

So, I chose to move over to Maya when Softimage was EOL'd and have ended up with the 'Maya and Softimage' option, which is great!

Due to long term projects I am still currently running both Maya and Softimage 2015, but during that time I purchased some new 'render nodes' for my modest render-farm and chose to have Windows 10 installed on them. This turned out to be a big mistake as the Maya/Softimage 2015 installer doesn't work with Windows 10 and consistently fails! (Something to do with .NET 4.6?)

So, now I have come to the end of my long project and would like to get Softimage 2015 and Maya 2016 Extension 2. My question is, if I download the installer for both products today, is that what I will get? I know Softimage will be the same as I have, but there seems to be no indicator as to whether this has the latest Maya 2016 Extension 2. Also, will this installer work with Windows 10?

So for Softimage XSI 2015 you are 100% correct it will be the same as before, no changes.  Softimage 2015 is not certified to run on Windows 10, and it is not being developed any further.  Some users have had success on Windows 10 yet as we have not tested nor certified Softimage for Win 10 we cannot guarantee it on that OS platform.  As for Maya 2016, when you purchase a desktop subscription, you get access to Maya 2016 and any updates which are associated with it.  You will see the Maya main installer as the normal Maya 2016 with possible updates up to Maya 2016 Ext1 SP6 and also Maya 2016 Ext 2.  One note, is that Maya 2016 Ext 2 is a completely separate installation, it installs as Maya 2016.5 and these can be run at the same time using the same license.  Be aware that there are some changes from Maya 2016 Ext 1 and Maya 2016 Ext 2.  I would suggest checking out some of these video examples: http://www.cgchannel.com/2016/04/autodesk-releases-maya-2016-extension-2/

Yes Maya 2016 and Maya 2016 Ext 2 are certified and should run with no issues on Windows 10.  If you are having issues with licensing, please let us know so we can have someone from our Installation and licensing team give you call.
