Softimage 2014 x64 crashes when tryng to save

I just download XSI Softimage 2014 x64 Student Version.. and once I click on Open or Save options, it stops responding and I have to force close.. I am not able to load or save anything.. is this some kind of restriction of Student Version? or is actually a bug? .. I have tryed with Reinstall and Repair but is useless.. Is anyone else having this problem?

I have a Windows 7 x64 SP1 English  Professional 

8 GB RAM

NVIDIA Geforce 9400 GT

Intel Core i5

 

I must say that all the tools I have test works perfectly and with no "lag" the application works perfectly fine and with no performance issues (as far as I am able to see.. with no loading or saving)

the cause of this is usually a drive letter that maps to a network drive that is dead. the time out can be very long.. minutes

disconnect all network drives in windows that look supecious.  it could also be a card reader or some other drive that is not responding.
