PDF and Revit view import/export

PDF and Revit view import/export

Sketchbook is an almost an awesome program.   But it's biggest downfall is the lack of being able to import and export a PDF and the inability to import and export Revit views.

As a paying Autodesk customer (building design suite) integration with Revit and PDF seems like a no-brainer.

Otherwise it really is a great program.

PDF Import would be great! Currently I have to open AutoCAD PDF in other software and then save as to PSD and then bring that into SB. Would be nice to be able to skip the step (for me I am not concerned about being able to edit PDF info, just to have it as a base drawing)

Would probably be better if the just gave Revit the ability to export a decent PDF as AutoCAD can do rather than having to add the ability to read Revit projects (I fear that would add a lot of size to SB)

Agree, but they need to do something to make importing views or drawings from Revit and Autocad. Again, to me, this is a no brainer and something that should have existed from the start. But then again, it is Autodesk, logic has never been their strong suit.

No, autodesk seem to arrive at interoperability almost accidentally don't theySmiley Tongue

I do agree a direct import of some sort would be very useful, save me a couple of steps in my workflow and would presumably result in a higher quality file. Though that is probably an assumption that will bite me later Smiley LOL

They had great promise with Impression (as and when it chose to work) and then they dropped it. Thanking the stars they haven't dropped SB (though I do recall the upgrade after V7 gave all the impression of never arriving).

 Hello all,

Expand on this idea a bit, how do you see the workflow going?

What do you expect when you bring in a Revit view or drawing in to SketchBook?

Thanks

I would also welcome the function to import and export pdf data file.

As an architect student it would be very helpfull to sketch over the plans. And they came as an example from archicad as a pdf file as most common format. Also to be able to colorize raw vektor lines drawings could be attractive for artist.

I would just like to be able to import *any* type of graphics file from a location other than the iCloud 'Photostream', which can't be added to manually. The only way I could import a PNG into Sketchbook would be by taking a photo of it with my camera!

As a daily Revit user and iPad Pro owner the ability to import multi-page PDF files would be spectacular. I would regularly:

1. Print progress drawing set from Revit to PDF.

2. import PDF into Sketchbook iOS (iPad Pro w/ Pencil)

3a. markup drawing sets (traditional technical markups)

3b. “hand render” elevations, 3D views, and plans with the sweet, sweet Sketchbook artistic tools, and otherwise develop the design on top of the base Revit export layer

Too many “PDF markup” tools are focused on technical redlines... clouds, punchlists, comments, stamps, etc. I want a workflow that is more design-focused. Autodesk has all the pieces, they just need to work better together.

I would really appreciate the pdf import/export.

1)Annotating/drawing into pdf's with the complete set of sketchbook tools (instead of the rather resticted tool set of the note-taking apps on iPad) would be awesome.

2) Pdf export would allow for direct reimport into my note-taking app.

3) When air printing from the iPad  pdf's print to the default A4 tray without hassle. All image formats print to the photo paper tray by default and one needs a workaround with secondary apps to do otherwise.

I would also like to select multiple sketches in the gallery and export them as multipage pdf.

I should note I have stopped using Autodesk Sketchbook because they don't seem to care about this issue.   I messaged Colin Smith about any updates over as year ago and never heard from him.

Morphio trace on my ipad is what I use but the drawing tools are not as good.

What's up with this Autocad? you support many other file formats for import/export? This would make this program unbeatable.
