WINDOWS 10 - JPEG file - "Couldn't open the file" - HEIC file

For those of you using Windows 10 (maybe it is an issue for other platforms - who knows) - I have been recieiving an error - "Couldn't open file" etc.... You can look at the attachment if you haven't come across it yourself yet.

Anyways the problem in my version of Windows (1909) is NOT that I am using the desktop version opposed to the approved Microsoft Store app version - (that, to me, is not a solution) - but rather that Microsoft automatically associates many high resolution JPEG files with HEIC files - which Sketchbook cannot open.

Workaround thus far has been to convert to a different file type -

So will suggest Sketchbook Feature - Make HEIC file format compatible -

And in meantime will seek way of preventing Windows 10 associating JPEGs as HEICs (on whim) - hopefully within the settings rather than the registry.

Windows don't have support for HEIC/HEIF files. There is online converter tools, that can help you to convert from HEIC to JPG - https://www.jpgheic.com/  As I see thats the only solution for win users for now.

As of Win 10 1803 (April 30, 2018) - HEIC/HEIF files are supported.

The problem is that it associates JPEGs of a certain size or resolution with them - and there appears to be no (WINDOWS) setting to prevent it.

My own comment also mentioned the workaround of simply converting the image type.

THE SOLUTION - is to find a means to prevent WINDOWS associating JPEGs as HEIC

or

SKETCHBOOK to become HEIC/HEIF compatible - which to date it is not.
