Stylus for IPad Pro

I've seen the chart showing which stylus works for which Ipad incarnation. Why is the Apple pencil only indicates for the IPad Pro? I have one of those rinky dink cheap stylus that I am able to use. If the Apple Pencil is the only thing indicated for the IPad Pro then why am I able to use the cheap one?

"Dumb" styluses, as they are sometimes called, don't relay pressure information to the iPad, so they are not much more useful that drawing with the fingers. No pressure means no variable thickness and opacity for the brushes.

Thank you for the reply. I do hate the fact that their is no line weight. Would I still be able to use a wacom stylus creative 2 or just a wacom stylus in general for the Ipad pro even though it says only the Apple pencil will work for it? I noticed on the Autodesk preferences that there were other choices of stylus to choose from.

I did read that earlier today. Any reason why only the Apple pencil is acceptable for sketchbook pro on the Ipad pro?

Apple iPad Pros and Pencil is the best combination for drawing on iOS..  You need it powered (battery) in the stylus so that there is pressure.

Other stylus' not listed above are capacitive and only reads the touch.  It will not have pressure.

Actually, I contacted Apple about using other types of pressure sensitive stylus for drawing Apps. They said that those stylus will work as well and that I don't necessarily need to buy an Apple Pencil. So I saved some money right there and will be looking towards other drawing programs now.

Thanks for contacting Apple.   I forgot to send this link to you...

We have tested only the Pencil with the iPad Pros.  It should work with the other devices (because it's the same app) but we have not tested it fully.
