Magic wand select tool outline fails to show on selection - Android version

Hi. Before downloading the latest version of the Android App I had no problems with the magic wand selection tool at all. I have just downloaded the latest version of the app - version 5.0.2. and now when I make a selection with the magic wand I can no longer see any dashed lines outline that defines the selection. Please can you assist me. I am using a Samsung Note 5 using Android 5.1.1.

Hi David.

I managed to find an old post where you advised someone to go into preferences and reset all 4 of the factory defaults by tapping all 4 buttons (reset color swatches, reset all brush settings, reset quick tour and reset preference settings).

I have done this and this has solved my issue...I can now see the selection outline...but VERY faintly.

HOWEVER I am now experiencing a new related bug. Lets say I have 2 layers. On layer 1 I go and select 3 shapes with the magic wand and fill them with an airbrush. I click the x button to the left of the selection menu and the on screen selection dialogue closes down. I go to layer no 2 and draw a line with say a pen. I now try and clear both layers. I try via the layer menu, by clicking the clear icon. Nothing happens. I try by using the top left screen double tap. Nothing happens. I now go and reopen the selection dialogue, rechoose the magic wand, reselect one of the shapes, x the selection, and close the selection dialogue box. I try and clear the layer again. Now I can clear both layers.

Do you wish me to make a screen video of this bug in action so you can see exactly what is happening?

Are you aware of this bug? Is there a solution? I await your feedback.

Can you make a video of the issue?

We have Note 5 (SM-920i) and it is running Android 7.0 and I can test your workflow in the newer operating system.  It was on Android 5 but it upgraded to 6 then 7 in the last 2 years.

Hi David

Sorry for the delay in replying. I have been ill. I have attached a screenvideo showing the workflow of how I am unable to clear any layers after using the selection tool, and only after I go and reselect an object, deselect it, and then close the selection tool, can I then clear a layers/s. The video shows it all clearly.

Also. I have noticed that the selection dashed lines outline is now VERY feint. Is there a reason for this? One struggles to see it!!

Hi David, sorry I saw a typo in my mail to you. I meant the dashed lines thqt define the selection are very faint compared to my previous version of the app.  Now I can hardly see the dashed outlines. Was there a change to this in this app version?

I hope you got my screenvideo, as it was quite big in size! 39mb! But that was at 1.2 Mbps and if I record any lower the quality will be bad. If you did not get the mp4 I can always send it to you via weetranfer or dropbox. Let me know.

Hi David

Did you get my video? It shows how after using the selection tool...in this case the magic wand...I can't clear any layers unless I go back and select one of the objects I originally selected, deselect it, close the selection tool bar and then I can clear layers. The video shows the workflow clearly.

Please can you get back to me. This behaviour only started now on updating to the most recent Android version of Sketchbook. Thank you.

All the Note 5 we have auto-updated to Android 7 and I followed the video and reproduced the steps and it is working for me (SM-B920i)

If you go to "Settings" > Search > Type: updates > Look for "Download updates manually".  There have been many fixes since 5.x on the Note 5.
