Issue with brush opacity

Hi! I just got sketchbook on my Mac. After messing around with brushes for a bit, I tried to start drawing, except the brush would not go to full opacity. The opacity slider thing and the brush settings both said it was at full opacity, but it’s not. As shown in the image, it goes to full opacity after one brushstroke is overlapped with another. How do I fix it so I don’t have to overlap it every time?

Can you create a new layer and try it change the opacity?  Are you able to reproduce the problem in a new sketch?
