i PURCHASED PRO - How do I disable Welcome or Splash screen?

I purchased SketchBook Pro last year. How can I disable the splash screen that shows upon launch. I hate having to hit X every single time. It sucks.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Nick

If you login once and re-launch the app, are you getting the FREE SketchBook Banner?

I start Sketchbook and I see the same splash screen. "SketchBook goes free!"

I click on the little guy (head) and it says "Welcome Nick"

I close the Splash screen.

I  close SketchBook.

Restart SketchBook and its the same splash screen.

So I repeat that process.

I do this every single time I launch the program. And tell your splash screen I don't care if sketchbook went free. I purchased pro a year ago! That dumb bastage should be keen to this. Yeeeesh. Dumb splash screen. I want to murder it.

Are you on Mac/Windows/iOS/Android?

What version of SketchBook are you on?

Try this version:

8.6.x

www.sketchbook.com/thankyou

If you don't like it, then use 8.5.1 (64 bit)

There were no feature updates.  We make things more GDPR compliant and remove purchase options.

Curious why the "Check for updates" doesn't find anything past the 8.5.1 that I'm on? The flash screen is super annoying after the first 100 or so times you open Sketchbook. Thanks for providing the link to 8.6.0, although I haven't yet updated to it I see here that it appears to have omitted the splash screen.

I too love Sketchbook, but this splash screen drama nearly broke me.. lol (kidding.. kinda :P)

Just for the record,
I'm having the same issue all the the time, and it's so annoying!

Fix this please! I would rather pay again than seeing this login screen all the time.

Look for Userpreferences.xml and change this:

  <bool name="Show Banner on Launch" value="false" default="false"/>

This did not work-

the entry <bool name="Show Banner on Launch" value="false" default="false"/>   was nowhere to be found

Even when I copy pasted that line of code into there and saved it,  it still didn't work and shows the hideous annoying SLOW TO LOAD splash screen that I have to deal with every single time that I use this program. Whoever thought this was a good idea without making a button "don't show me this again" I'd like to buy that person coffee and a doughnut someday, sit down for a nice quiet but long stern talk about how annoying that is. =D

Is there other lines of code I could try changing to hopefully remove the splash screen? A darn right shame the code you (david) mentioned to change isn't the right one, at least not for me, and I am on the latest version so *shrugs*. =?

NOTE: Download the latest version of SketchBook via:  www.sketchbook.com/thankyou

---

1. Reset SketchBook to default.

Preferences > Factory Defaults > Reset everything.

2. Log out of SketchBook.

3. Quit SketchBook.

4. Restart Sketchbook and login.

5. Exit SketcHBook.

6. Edit   Userpreferences.xml

I have done this and I have exited and restarted SketchBook and no banner comes up.

oh boy, to lose all my settings by resetting to factory defaults just to fix this isn't worth it. I'll live with the HORRENDOUS splash screen of doom. =,<

I really don't want to redo my color swaths and custom brushes all over again.

May I kindly ask you folks to add an option in a future version to disable that splash screen, that doesn't require us to undo all of our settings? Or since sketchbook has gone free- is it pretty much done being actively developed?

Try jumping to step 6.

6. Edit   Userpreferences.xml

I missed the part about trying the 8.6 version from your last few posts- IT WORKED! THE DRAGON HATH BEEN SLAIN! Thank you!

May the splash screen NEVER come back- unless it has an option to not show again.

When I tried to find updates from inside sketchbook it didn't find this secret magical version 8.6, so you folks here need to download it manually with the link david provided.
