Changing Resolution Without Knowing

Has anyone had this problem before? You set up the resolution to 300 at the beginning but at some point after all the work you put into your project, you go to check the image size and it reads the resolution at 100. It seems to change it on it's own. I just updated to the new 8.6.0 and I'm using Windows 7.

I prefer setting the resolution via Preferences > Canvas (tab).
