T2135 Error when running Nastran from Simulation Mechanical 2016

Hello,

I have a simple cantilever beam with one end fixed. The other end has tensile force applied. If I try to run simulation using the Nastran solver, there's "FATAL ERROR T2135: UNABLE TO GENERATE SURFACE CONTACT USING SPECIFIED PARAMETERS" error and EXECUTION TERMINATED DUE TO DISPLAYED ERROR(S) in Summary information but the simulation finished successfully. At the end of Summary infomation is written that EXECUTION TERMINATED NORMALLY.

If I export the file to Autodesk Nastran Editor (Export - Autodesk Nastran Editor) and try to run it, it fails because of FATAL ERROR T2135: UNABLE TO GENERATE SURFACE CONTACT USING SPECIFIED PARAMETERS.

My model is very simple (see the attachment) and there should be no need to generate surface contacts.

Do you have any advice? Thanks.

Martin

Hi Luca and Martin,

We automatically add a CONTACTGENERATE card when exporting or running with Nastran. In 2016 SP1 we've really beefed up the comments in Nastran bulk data file (BDF) to help you understand what is going on. With single part models this CONTACTGENERATE card is not necessary, so you can go into the BDF and comment out the line.
