Simulation Mechanical Reports Print in Chinese

All,

Good morning!  I have a customer who prints out reports and they're displaying Chinese text.  I've not found a setting for this yet and initial searches haven't turned up anything.  Can someone please pass along some advice on how to adjust this to use English?  If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Thanks in advance for any assistance, hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Peace,

Pete

Hi Pete,

I have a few questions to help clarify the issue.

  1. What version of Sim Mech are they using?
  2. When they create the report, does it show okay in the Sim Mech interface?
  3. When they "print" the report, is it literally being printed to a printer (or a PDF printer, etc)? And that is where the characters appear?

If the problem is 2, then maybe they can read Chinese and set up Sim Mech to display the menus in Chinese. 😉 (See http://help.autodesk.com/view/ASMECH/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-2FF8481B-C332-48EB-96BC-1CF347619B4C, MultiLanguage Support.)

If the problem is 3, then maybe there is some special character in the report that is causing a problem for the printer, or maybe the printer needs updated drivers.

What I would try to do is save the report (to HTML, to PDF, maybe to Word) and open the saved file. Maybe the report will be displayed okay and "print" ok. If that still does not work, then they should provide a copy of the saved report (HTML preferred, but other format would be helpful too) to see if there is something in the report that is causing the problem, and then that can be removed from the report.
