SIMULATION MECHANICAL crashes after selecting the Graphics tab in the dialog box

Dear All,

I have a problem with launching of Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2017

When i want to create new or open an existing simulation the software crashes.

I was thinking about some display problems so i follow the instruction from troubleshooting :

Solution:

To fix the graphical display issue with the background, complete the follow:

  1. Select the menu in the upper left corner and select Options
  2. Select the Graphics tab in the dialog box
  3. From the list of options on the left select Hardware
  4. Deselect Enable OpenGL Hardware Acceleration***

But when I try to do that the softwer crashes at point no 2 from above.

I have tried all possible solutions to fix this problem but I failed.

I have also on my computer Inventor 2017 software and CFD Design Study 2017 and all is working fine for them.

ANY HELP PLEASE ?

Regards;

Maciej Gapiński

Hi Maciej,

Sorry to hear about those strange crashes. It might be related to the graphics card, but here are some things to try first.

Run Regall.bat

  1. Start Windows Explorer (whatever it is named on your version of Windows)
  2. Go to the folder where Sim Mech is installed (normally C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Simulation 2017)
  3. Locate the file "regall.bat"
  4. Right-click on the file and choose "Run as administrator".
  5. A black command prompt window will appear and remain open while the files are registered. After 1 to 2 minutes, the command prompt window will close.

Run Sim Mech as Administrator

  1. Right-click on the shortcut that starts Sim Mech.
  2. Choose "Run as administrator".
  3. Does the crash still happen? If so, make a copy of the screen (press Alt+Print Screen to capture it, then start Paint, paste the screen capture into paint, and save it as a JPEG or PNG.) and attach the image.

Update Graphics driver

If the problem is related to the graphics, check for updated drivers from the manufacturer.

If it still does not work, please let us know:

  1. What version of Windows are you using?
  2. What graphics card do you have? (Can probably see by "right-clicking on desktop > Screen resolution > Advanced settings" and making a screen capture (Alt+Print screen) of the "Adapter" tab and the "Properties > Driver" tab.)
