Non-uniform mass warning

Hi,

Lately I have been receiving the following warning when running a linear random vibration analysis:

1**** RANDOM VIBRATION ANALYSIS
Warning: non-uniform mass used as uniform at node=    556

This happens only when I run the random, but not when I run the modal. The run completes and the results appear valid. It appears to happen primarily where I have an array of rigid beams from the perimeter of a hole to the center of the whole in solid part, such as for a bolted joint. These beams are added manually to the meshed solid. The warning occurs at the nodes where the beams meet the brick elements, but only for a fraction of the total number of beams modeled this way.

Any ideas about what's happening? Thanks.

Stefan

I have created a test model containing brick and rigid elements and could not replicate your warning message.  Please click on the big "S" button in the top left corner of the interface and choose to create an archive of your model only.  Upload your archive for my review as this seems to be a model dependent issue.

Pat,

Thanks for the response. I should clarify that I used beam elements with a relatively high modulus rather than rigid elements.

The archive file is too large to upload. Do you have an alternate location to which I can send it?

Hi Pat,

Any chance I can upload this file to another location? It is 13Mb, which exceeds the attachment limit. Thanks.
