How do I conduct a 2 object impact simulation

Hello

I am currently undertaking a dissertation which involves conducting impact simulations between a climbing ice axe and ice. I'm fairly new to this field of engineering, but from what I've found out is that it can be done in Simulation Mechanical.

I have built my axe from scratch on a Catia, imported the model into Simulation Mechanical, assigned materials to each component, and meshed the model. I have created a new material with the properties of ice, too. 

I am currently trying to learn the capabilities of the program, but from here, how would I run an analysis of impact depth of the axe into a block of ice?

Broad question, I know, but I hope someone can help me with the process.
