Beginner in 'stress simulation' needs help

Hi! 

 

I am a student at the University of Glasgow. For an assignment I need to simulate the stresses in the casing that I made, of a domestic tyre inflator. I want to see what happens when the product is falling over/toggling over on the ground (streets), due to instability. The product its weight is 2,8kg and is 23cm in height. 

If someone knows how to simulate this properly, please let me know! Will be appreciated a lot.

The product casing (with inside elements), is shown below.

Hi Eefje,

 

It looks like you are using Fusion 360.

  • If you are hoping to do the simulation in Fusion 360, you should post your question to the Fusion 360 forum. Your only option in Fusion 360 is to setup an Event Simulation. I suggest that you go through the tutorials to get started. (Hints: you would need to place the model at the instant of the impact and give it the appropriate initial velocity.)
  • If you have access to Inventor Nastran, you can perform the analysis using the same explicit dynamics analysis (but are not limited to a 12 hours runtime). You can also use an "Impact Analysis" or "Nonlinear Transient Response". 
  • I doubt that you are using Simulation Mechanical (the software associated with this forum) since Sim Mech is a discontinued product. Otherwise, you would setup the analysis using MES (Mechanical Event Simulation).
