Hello,
Just wanted to see if anybody else was having this issue to possibly find a solution. I was working on trying to use Screencast 4.0 to record a video on Civil 3D, however as soon as I click the record button the application immediately quits.
My Civil 3D command line shows the recording starting and stopping immediately:
Screencast Started
Screencast Stopped
This also happens when recording in other applications. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program multiple times. I didn't have this problem before until after I installed 4.0. Perhaps that is the issue?
I am using Screencast 4.0, Civil 3D 2020, and Windows 10.
Hi @Anonymous
We haven't heard of this issue from any customers. I am assuming this might be machine specific. When you start recording, regardless of the application you are recording, Screencast is crashing for you. And you have already tried uninstall/reinstall.
You can try the following steps:
- Reboot the machine so that all the resources are freed
- Uninstall the Screencast Recorder
- If for some reason, if the uninstall doesn't delete the following directories, go ahead and delete the following directories:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\Chronicle
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Autodesk Chronicle.bundle
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Chronicle
- In registry (Run regedit), and delete *Screencast* Key from the HKCU\Software\Autodesk
Also, we save the screencast recording files before uploading to My Documents\Autodesk Screencast. In this location, you will see folders, if they didn’t upload successfully and would be a good reason, why it is crashing on startup (as we try to upload any unsuccessful uploads). You will lose this work, but, I think they were corrupted somehow.
If you are still seeing the issue, can you go to Files Explorer and go to you temp directory "C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Temp\ and look for Screencast.dmp file and can you mail that to me at ram.mummidi@autodesk.com
Thanks,
--Ram
Have you checked if there is something wrong with your computer? Have you tried to check it with other software? If you want to record the screen, Camtasia and TunesKit AceMovi are both good choices, these two programs can edit the screen after recording. Relatively speaking, the screen recorded by TunesKit AceMovi is clearer.
