NOW AVAILABLE - Autodesk Screencast v.3.0 (Windows version)

Today, we are pleased to announce the availability of our next update for Autodesk Screencast!

We've been busy the last several months addressing a number of new feature requests as well as tuning performance for this service. Thank you all for the feedback and requests. 

WHAT'S NEW?

- Re-Record Audio: with this update, you can now re-record your voice-over, snip audio/video and even insert silence into a Screencast that you are currently producing. 

- Undo the Last Edit Operation: made a mistake while editing? Just undo it! We've enabled a single undo capability in our editing dialog. 

- Updated Editor Design: redesigned to have a better user interface and attraction. These enhancements are based upon customer feedback and our own usability testing.

- Language drop-down: when uploading a Screencast, the language list will be displayed to allow easy accessibility and usage when producing your videos.

If you haven't already upgraded, you can find the latest release here. We are still working on the Mac version, expect that in about one month.

I tried the new version but am having problems recording my sound. From 15 minutes of recorded screencast, only like 5 seconds sound were actually recorded. Then I tried to re-record my sound and that also didn't work. I'm still trying to figure out if the problem is on my side or caused by this new version because now I can't seem to choose anymore between recording system audio and recorded audio? Why was this removed?

Hi John,

The original functionality that we have, i.e. recording audio from while creating the Screencast, should still work as before. So I am not sure, why only the 5 seconds of audio was recorded. What kind of audio device do you use for recording? Do you use the in-built microphone or do you use a external headset? Can you configure the audio device in the options dialog and try again? Please let us know if you are still having issues.

@ram.mummidi, I was using a headset and tried a test recording upfront which seemed to record okay. Then after my 15 mins screencast it recorded only 5 secs of voiceover and strangly somehwere at 75% of the recording. I also tried to add audio afterwards in Edit mode and that also didn't work as the sound kept switching off. It still very strange to me why this happened but I will do a test again next week and let you know my results.

I finally had a chance to use the new version, and it worked very well.  At the time of the original recording, my immediate environment was too noisy to do any narration, but I was able to do the usual video editing and then, having kept the editor open for several hours, was later on able to record the voice over.  For this particular Screencast, I also took advantage of the insert silence feature.

This is a great improvement to this valuable tool.  Thanks!

While the re-recording of audio is a nice touch, it's still not suitable for me.

I record audio separately, trim it, clean it up, and then export a new wav file for use. It would be great to be able to upload a wav file as well.

I have a feeling that because of the unique way that Screencast records and plays back video that it would need to be turned into something similar to a fully featured video editing product to get the most out of it at a professional level.

Don't know if there is a way that edited video could be created in another product and then use Screencast to apply to the Screencast features (like keyboard commands) before uploading to the servers? I think I'd almost be happy if the keyboard commands were burned into the video when it was recorded, at least as a visual indicator.

Thank you for the suggestions. We will add this to our backlog. Currently we don't have the capability to upload or apply a wav file recorded outside of the Screencast Recorder.

Also there is no way to bring video's recorded in other programs and be able to do the Screencast processing to apply mouse clicks and keyboard input.

Hi Eric. Version 3 is the version I have, but I have trouble with the Audio not syncing with the video.

On looking at it again, all audio has been stitched together, and all breaks between sentences removed.

so a 40 second video has about 20 seconds of audio which races through, leaving the video behind.

Hi Eric,

I am just wondering that how I can setting the language on the display which shows the commands & values entered via the keyboard?

I thought this is the setting but I can get only English.I downloaded the latest screencast v3.2 and I used Revit2016.

What I want to get is Japanese subtitle for each action, the commands & values.

I would be great if you can give me the instruction to change the setting.

at first I want to suggest that you always start a separate discussion for separate issues. Your question differs from the main target of this post.

But nevertheless - I would say that the selection of the language is not for Screncast and not for the recorded commands. It is an information / a "Tag" for your uploaded video where the users can search for contributions, defined as "Japanese". The language of the recorded software and the language which you used to write your information can be different. (Example: You record a software in English, speak the information and write the contribution in Japanese and select (as an error) the language French ...)

it was an information for only description on my video.
