The audio sounds very much like issues I've had while editing audio in programs like avid protools. In those programs the system resources could be adjusted to compensate for whats going on. I'm not certain if thats what happening here, but that's a very similar sound. Its a stuttering with hard pops and clicks and jumps in the audio.
