Load Transfer Between Column and Shear Wall

For columns connected to a concrete shear wall, the normal force coming from the columns above is partially transferred to the wall, causing a decrease in the normal force in the column. What can I do to ensure that the entire normal load is carried by the column? Also, what is the most realistic configuration to consider: allowing load transfer to the wall or not?
