How can I reduce the size of a model file in CBS

Hi. I have a model file in CBS .geo, only with current geometry, 4 stores, about 700m2 per floor. I have only introduce geometry (walls, slabs, beams, columns). Not any loads yet. The file grows up to 450MB and it become impossible to work with.

Can i have some help?

Also, I use CBS for AVP (avant projet). How can I represent the impact of the stucture that begins above the current level? P. ex, I have some deep beams that ar above the current level but i cannot see it, nor be presented on plans as "the impact of upper structure".

Thanks.

Do you have some backgrounds? If, yes, what is the size of the file when you delete them?

What about modelling the "impact' as additional loads?

I thank you for your quick answer and post.

1. Size o file

You were absolutly right. I take almost 1 hour to delete each f the
background ....The size of file reduced to 460kB. But thebackgrounds (dxf)
only have a size of 4 / 5 MB! And i have to view some superpositions, that
why i must import some dxf in each story. IS the any workaround to solve
this in the models? Or I have to continously delete some backgrounds?

2. Impact of elements

What i have tried to say is that when i model the elments of one story
(beams, walls) they are seen above the current level. When I have deep
beams above the current level i dont "See" them in the level. I must go to
upper level and introduce them. But sometimes i need to put some beams
below some walls. The only way i usually do is to copy the wall to bottom
level, ontroduce the beam precisily at center of wall and then delete the
wall in the level below.
Also, when i make the export of drawings in dxf, these walls do not appear
in the level they begin. I need to represent them in dashdot manually.

Do you have an email to send you the model by wetransfer?

Thank you again for your support.

1. I can't think of any option that would reduce the size of the model with backgrounds but delete the ones that are currently not needed.

2. You may want to try View > Previous/Next story commands.

Hi

Thats It! Thank you again!

Let me put a comment: I think CBS a powerfull tool to create model geometry
for robot. I have encountered many difficulties in make propoer huge models
in robot (problems withe mesh accuracys, walls that do not fit etc).

Altough autodesk thinks the future is REVIT/ROBOT only, i think that it
will be usefull to keep this tool. I have heard that CBS was discontinued
to 2016 version.

If we look at SAP2000, they have a powerfull tool for modeling buildings
(ETABS).

Best regards
