Sliding Check

Hi,

I am currently having a problem with sizing the foundation due to the sliding check. It looks like the sliding force value is compared with the value of force preventing sliding that is based purely on the applied vertical load from the structure.

Can you please explain if the foundation weight is taken into account in this check?

Thank you for your help.

Hi Marta,

The calculation note shows what additional loads are included in addition to the forces from the 47 combinations taken from the model.

You can also run a test for only horizontal force in the support node load case.

Hi Artur,

Thank you for your reply.

It looks like the weight of the soil and the foundation is shown in the note, but then it is neglected in further calculations and only the applied vertical load (the reaction in combination 47_ULS) is multiplied by the friction coefficient (280.14kN x 0.33 = 92.45kN).

Can you please advise me if I'm missing something out?

Marta

Artur,

Thank you for your help!

Everything is clear now - the uplift  was the reason of such a reduction.
