Hi,
I have a question regarding to shell finite element. Shell finite elements should have connection between horizontal and vertical deformations. In that case for example - rectangular flat slab- modelled as shell, supported arround perimeter with pinned line supports, vertically loaded , should have bending moments and membrane forces Nx, Ny in horizontal plane.
I tried and membrane forces are zero.
So, this is not shell, they are plate element and there is not possibility to model this flat slab in Robot and get membrane forces in horizontal plane.
And what is with reinforcement design - does shell, bending + tension/compression neglect membrane forces in this case !
Could you please clarify this topic.
Regards
