Revit- Robot integration

Dear All
I'm trying to export a model from Revit to RSA (both v2016), in order to conduct a structural analysis check and then update the Revit model with final sections.I usually work with custom Cold Formed Steel sections made of 2C-back-to-back as beams and built-up sections for columns as illustrated in the attachment (Sections.png).

My Questions are:

1) What would be the shape type code for the given column or how to deal with sections that do not fall into a specific shape category.
I noticed that the shape type code has an impact on mapping between Revit - RSA.

2) I've created the sections in RSA and I've generated the same sections in Revit with the help of Content Generator extension.
It only worked for beams since they have a specific shape type code (I used code 39 for 2C-BTB) .
The export from Revit to Robot for beams works well, Robot maps automatically this sections. On the other hand , the columns can be mapped manually by the mapping tool that pops-up when the model is exported since the name is not associated with any other standard section.

However, suppose I have a frame with Sec1 beams and after Robot analysis they need to be bumped-up to Sec2 beams.
When I'm making the changes in Robot and update the Revit model, the sections don't change. Not even for the columns mapped manually.

In other words, from Revit to Robot everything works fine with custom sections, but when it comes to update the Revit model after Robot analysis, the mapping is not working anymore unless i use standard sections (in this case W or HSS sections from AISC database).
I'm wondering what could be the issue.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Ovi S.

Create section of the same geometry as a family in Revit with the same name like in Robot and it should be automatically matched by the name.

See webinar 10, slides 18, 19, 20

Hi Rafal,
Thanks for your reply. I know this webinar and I've watched it several times...
I still cannot figure out what I'm missing.

1) I have my sections created in Robot as well as Revit families. Attached Robot-Revit Sections.png
What I don't understand:  If I make the change in Revit and transfer to Robot, mapping is done automatically and the sections will update.
However when I make a change in Robot (e.g after an analysis) and try to update Revit model, the sections won't change unless they are from standard databases.
Is like Revit does not see the mapping anymore. No warnings no errors (message: update successful), but sections won't change.

2) Another thing that is unclear to me is that if Robot can map custom sections "by name" why is important to have the same section geometry in both softwares?

3) I noticed in a screencast that was posted some time ago, that after you created and saved the UPN section to "ruser datebase" in Robot, you changed the shape_ type code to 1, which doesn't make sense anymore. I've attached a screenshot: Screencast.png

Screencast:

It's been a long time I'm struggling with this mapping. I really hope we can fix this problem.

Thanks again!

Oh yes, you are right. Updating Revit model with Robot user section does not work.

It needs to be corrected in software.

Thank You for reporting.
