Recommended meshing options for flat slabs/floor slabs

Hi,

 

the link below outlines the recommended meshing requirements for a panel. however is this the same for a floor slab panel also or just for a wall panel i.e. same meshing configuration for wall panels except using the delunays option instead of coons when meshing floor slabs? Or do the greyed out areas require changing also when meshing a floor slab?  Do you Need too use emitters? Any advice on this or recommendations on this would be most appreciated.

Hi @skellyRSA2023 

Meshing type used for panel depends on model geometry. Usually slabs are supported with columns so emitter options are used to refine mesh over those supports. The same effect can be obtained by increasing mesh density manually using Analysis > Meshing > Mesh refinement  

 

Greyed out areas in Meshing options are used with Delaunay algorithm and are not active while Coons is chosen.

Options in bottom left corner are valid for Coons.

 

Optimal mesh setting depends on model and required mesh size and shape together with model geometry.

 

For regular slabs divided into separate regular panels Coons is usually better. For irregular slabs with many supporting columns it would be easier to use Delaunay with emitters defined.
