RC Core Wall - Reinforcement Pattern "Opening 'H1' coincides with edge reinf"

I am attempting to design a RC Core. I am using BAEL the French Code for RC Elements.

I have some problems when trying to design the reinforcement and have found resources to help in this area extermely limited.

1. When I leave the bar diameter options in the "Reinforcement Pattern" menu as "auto" the Robot returns a design using almost always 6mm bars and an extremely dense arrangement of steel. When I change the bars to larger sizes, even as high as 50mm the steel is still very dense. Why is there not a noticable change?

2. I have the calcualtion error "The opening 'H1' coincides with edge reinforcement!" I was wondering what I can do to fix this? I have tried everything exept changing the core wall thickness. I have also tried to up the size of bars and modified various spacing parameters in the "Reinforcement Pattern" menu. This is my first experience designing RC Walls.

How might I go about changing the width over which the edge reinforcement is required so that it no longer coincides with openings in the wall?

Could you attach the model and indicate the wall to look at?

I posted a reply Artur but it has somehow disappeared.

I am interested in wall 757. The file is quite large so I have uploaded it using 4shared.

I am not quite sure if the forces are being applied to the core appropriately from the truss above and the adjoining floor beams. I am very grateful for any help you can offer. I am interested in 757 but help with RC design would be appreciated. I am aimimg to produce drawings for the 4 walls storey by storey showing the reinforcment arrangement. So far my reuslts are not logical as the bar sizes Robot returns are always the smallest I allow it to return and I have found edge reinforcement to be a particular issue.

Thanks again Artur the help is appreciated.

Edit: When I use the RC Provided module for wall 294, at the bottom of the core, if I do not use "Calculation options" to disallow size 6, 10, 12mm bars then the calculations simple return a design using very small bars, if I change it to specifify larger bars for example vertical main or edge longitudinal renforcement then the spacing stays the same instead of increasing since the bars are larger.

Designs for lower storey walls are also comparable to upper storeys why is the reinforcement required at lower storeys not increasing?

Did you recieve the model file correctly?

Yes, I did but I need to get familiar with BAEL provisions for bar spacing which is going to take ma a bit  of time as I'm not using this code.

Ok good to know. Thanks a lot. It is very much appreicated.

When you include a seismic case in the reinforcement design the max. spacing for this reinforcement is limited to 10 cm therefore the increase of rebar diameter doesn't influence it.

Hi Artur. I was not aware a seimic load case was included in the analysis. I have looked into it and cannot identify which case/combination this might be. Have you got any advice which case might need deleted?

Marc

EDIT: the screenshots below show the two options I have explored for removing seimic load case but after this the ULS case are also not being generated. I have tried deleting Seismic from the table in 1st image. I have also tried setting the factor to 0. Finally I have tried to untick seimic combinations in the 2nd image.
