Progressive Collapse Analysis

Respected RSA Team,

As part of my academic project I have to do a nonlinear dynamic time history analysis for conducting a parametric study about progressive collapse on Reinforced concrete structure using Robot Structural Analysis 2015 software according to USA’s GSA 2013 guidelines.

Since I couldn’t understand fully the GSA guidelines procedure for Nonlinear dynamic analysis I refer other topics regarding the above said analysis including the CSI knowledge base suggested by Mr. Romanich in this following link https://wiki.csiamerica.com/display/kb/Progressive+collapse+analysis for my earlier post and I am attaching some other PDFs here for your kind reference.

But the problem for me that the above said papers are done the nonlinear dynamic time history analysis using SAP2000 and I got confused to follow those procedures using RSA 2015.

If any mentors could show me how to do the nonlinear dynamic time history analysis for checking progressive collapse in RSA 2015 by removing any corner column on simple Single bay RC frame using the suugested load combination of 1.2DL+0.5LL in GSA 2013 as a video tutorial; ..It will be highly appreciated.

Also I would like to ask you the following doubts,

1) Is it possible to assign Nonlinear hinges in RCC structure in RSA 2015?

2) If so what data I have to provide in the Definition of hinge model tab especially in POINT tab. Can I use the default values?

3) Also what type of data I have to provide in Parameters Tab especially regarding unloading method..?

.

Hi!

I am work in my final year bachelors academic project at Federal University of Ceara, Brazil. The subject of this project is Progressive Collapse and I actually analyse a strutrure in both Linear an Non-linear Static Procedure for Progressive Collapse requirements from GSA. Perhaps, we can change some experiences about our projects. If you are interested, contact me via email: bergson.sm@gmail.com.

Best regards!

Hi,

Did you find any way of doing the progressive collapse on Robot Structural Analysis?
