Penetration on tank shell (cylinder) and surcharge

Hi,

I am aiming to create a penetration through a tank shell which I modelled as a cylinder.
I have tried an interesection operation with a 3D cube, however I have been unsuccessful so far as part of the cube integrated in the tank shell. I have modelled two countours as openings in the locations where I want the penetrations but I do not think this is working.

Around in the vicinity, and below these penetrations, I would like to model compacted fill to allow for an excavator to operate, so it will surcharge the tank shell locally. However, the soil loads are taking the whole diameter length which is stressing the tank significantly. Will this load be possible?

If you could advice on the above it would be great.

Many thanks in advance.

Miguel
