Non Linear Model Definition

Hi All,

I would like to model a pin (nodal) support as a linear spring that can only take downwards force but cannot resist uplift force. Some people also call this kind of supports "compression only" spring supports. I am failing to define a function in "supports">"new support">"nonlinear">"definition of non-linear model"> "parameters"> "Type: Function".

Can anyone explain step-by-step how this is done in Robot?

Model and sketch attached. In the model, if you will, please assign the "compression only" spring support at any node.

Thanks,

Alex

no need to create a nonlinear support model. Just use the uplift option on the rigid tab

@Rafacascudo

Thank you very much!

I was not aware that the support will have properties from both "Rigid" tab and "Elastic" tab at the same time. I thought the properties would be either rigid or elastic but not a combination of the two.

This solves my problem.

Thanks,
Alex
