Non-Linear Damper Elements

Hi all,

We aim to properly model preloaded spring dampers devices that are to exist at the top of the piers of a long viaduct.

This way, we would like to know if it is possible to run time-history analysis on a model that includes elements that are characterized by behaviour laws (we suppose by using non-linear releases) such as the following:

f (x,v) = f0 + k . x + c . v^a

where

x is relative displacement

v is relative velocity

f0, k, c and a are constant positive values

Can anyone says "yes, it is possible" or "no, not implemented"?

Thank you for your help.

Accepted solution

No, not implemented.

Only  viscous dampers are available, with linear relation for  velocity.
