Hi folks;
I am learning how to model a concrete frame – with fixed joints - properly. I am not sure which position (Position 1 or Position 2 in Figure1) is the correct location to connect a beam with a column. Please see Figure 1.
I have seen many instructions connecting beam to the column center (Position 1) as shown in Figure 2. However, then the 3D view (Figure 3) looks funny because the beam does not continue until the column edge.
Thus, I connected the beam to Position 2 (Figure 4). The 3D view looks realistic (Figure 5), but the analytical view looks different (Figure 6). Would you please explain to me which one is correct to represent the load transfer of a fixed joint?
