When reacting a cylinder with top and base shell elements, there is an issue with the mesh for especially the top shell element.
When creating the entire mesh in one step the following is seen:
The nodes of the base shell element and cylinder are slightly offset as seen below:
The nodes of the top shell element and cylinder are in line. However, 1-3 additional nodes are created on the top shell element as seen below:
The issue for the base shell element can be fixed by doing a local mesh deletion/generation. But the issue for the top shell element cannot be fixed in the same manner.
How can this be solved? Beside freezing the mesh of the base shell element and use this to replace the top shell element. However, this is a general issue I'm facing in more complex structures where this solution isn't feasible.
