Layher scaffolding model

Hi,

I'm trying to model "Layher" scaffolding.

Columns, beams and diagonal braces steel design is ok, but there's a problem with normal forces in diagonal braces connections.

In "Layher" brochure maximal normal force in diagonal braces joint is Nv,Rd = 12.4kN. In my structure Nv,Rd is around 30 kN.

Is there a way in RSA2020 to set beams (in my case diagonal braces) to support only 12kN and the rest will be attributed to other steel elements in model???

Statically speaking when an effort has to pass in a diagonal it will not be able to go elsewhere.
You must find a structure configuration where the effort in the diagonal is less than the capacity of the connection.

Hi,

I'm making my own Layher scaffolding library in Revit and planing to use Robot to do structural analysis. so I'm wondering if you were able to set up the scaffolding support as it is recommended in this link(https://www.dlubal.com/en/support-and-learning/support/knowledge-base/000973)

Thanks.

Hi,

ultimately I finished my project with a different structural software.

Thank you for replying could you tell me which software did you use to do it so??

Have you tried the nonlinear tab on supports dialog window? There are plenty of options for a nonlinear support type.

at the end we used this software with quite basic features (nothing "fancy")

We limited wind speed in order to make all joints below bearing capacity.

I think you'll spend a lot of working hours setting up nonlinear scaffolding model and I'm not sure it's worth it!

probably too late , but yes you can do that using nonlinear tab ou release dialog window .

If possible the analysis will re-distribute the forces reaching a convergent solution.

I have done it sucessfully before and worked very well. Below an example for a nonlinear support . It works similarly for bar releases.
