Import mesh from external app while grouping elements by physical component.

We have an application, that we have developed, that can define its own geometry, generate its own meshes, and run analyses (by invoking external tools).
We are able to use the Robot SDK. We have been able to send meshes to Robot and have been able to retrieve the calculation results from Robot.
However, we are new to the Robot application. What is the correct/recommended way to define a model in Robot where we can send it the mesh to use while keeping the elements "grouped" by their respective physical components? We would like to use Robot's ability to verify the structure (based on standards), but use the meshes that we have generated.
Please see my attached [Sample-Triangle-Structure.pdf] document as a simple example. Page 1, shows A, B, and C as the physical components. Page 2, shows "our mesh" that we would like to send to Robot while making sure the respective elements stay associated with the physical components A, B, and C. What we have experienced so far, is that every element (the numbered items on page 2) becomes its own physical component in Robot. This not our intent.
Please advise.
Thank you.
