Hi

Does anyone know how the maximum normal stresses is calculated in RSA?

Hi@rbaXBU6W

Maximum normal stresses are a sum of stresses resulting from axial force and bending. Stresses

The maximum stresses may not exceed the yield strength, right? If the materiale is steel...

Hi   @rbaXBU6W

Maximum stress can exceed yield stress in linear static analysis

Hi @Krzysztof_Wasik

Yes, i know that the maximum stresses can exceed the yield strenght. My question was more in the designing phase. What do you compare the maximum stresses to in the designing phase. This must be the yield strenght of steel, if the material is steel?

Hi @ @rbaXBU6W

In design phase (for steel members ) code based formula are used in Steel Design module. Yield stress is one of the checked criteria. Others are buckling, lateral buckling, stebility, depending on used code and member section.
