flat slab pinned support modeling

Hello,

Can anybody help with modelling flat slab on linear supports or explain why occurs negative (sagging) moment at support at Y direction (see below screenshot - moment in Y direction)? Assumed linear pinned support around opening.

Thanks in advance

Alex

Model please. On the corners it's expected, in the middle depends on the size of your hole and in the size of your FEMesh.

Hi teixeiranh,

Thanks for request. I agree with you about corner moments, I just wondered when I had seen (sagging) moment above support. Model is in attachment.

Thanks

Alex

Hi,

Can anybody comment a bit more what to do in such cases? Should I just ignore those moments? I am new in this software and probably there is some mistake in model, can someone just have a quick look on the model?

Thanks

Alex

Check the shape of deformation first. I think that you may reduce this effect by having denser mesh (more supported nodes along the edge of the opening).
