FE Results meaning

Hello, 

I am experimenting with calculating a weld using finite elements for a school project. 

I access "Plate and shell results", then I select "Table Columns" and for parameters I select "nodes/elements".

Is there a picture somewhere with the meaning of these results? Why are there distributed forces (N/mm) and stresses (MPa) in a node? 

What if I select "element centers"? What is the meaning of the results there?

Forces , on tables, maps or panel cuts are always given per unit of lenght. 

On element centers it is probably taking an average of the values found on the nodes that form the particular FE.
