Export loads from Excel to Robot automatically

Dear Users,

I would like to create load cases in Excel with the actual loads on the different structural objects. I have made an excel which creates such loads and the input is the objects. Now I would like to export these load cases from excel to Robot.

I have read previously the posts (API Extraction of loads into Excel/ Editing load cases in excel) linked below about the possibilities. I saw the importing worked with dumpingloadsforeachobject.xlsm.

I also tried to use the API of RMI_loadcomb_nested_with_subnatures.xlsm made by Rafal.Gaweda. Is it just for adding load cases and combination without load values ? Or it is just my failure, because I have tried to add a simple line load on a bar, but I couldn't make it. Can any of you who had success witht that API to help (tony.ridley or Rafal.Gaweda) ?

And if that API is not for that reason is there any for exporting pre-defined loads into Robot automatically? (I can copy paste of course, but several times after copying some loads changed by mistake after pasting them in.)

Thanks in advance either an API like this or some explanation for RMI_loadcomb_nested_with_subnatures.xlsm would be a great help!

I am not aware of any macro doing that

Because it is as simple as copying by clipboard:

You are right, that it is simple as copying, but not easy. I had 2000 lines as different wind loads on the structure and many times Robot broke down, when I copied. So I had to split it up and copy in few step. However, it was correct in excel, during copying Robot addressed some random loads with different load case number.

Because of these issues and to improve the workflow, I would be happy if I can make such a "paste button" in Excel to Robot to export load cases.

At the end I would like to make a workflow, which uses Robot as a calculator engine, but make the structural analysis process as automatic as possible for standard structures.

So it is a task for you to create such macro.
Basing on code (as a hint) from "API Extraction of loads into Excel" you can write macro for creating loads \ load records etc.

Another macro you found gives you hint how to create loads cases and combinations

Most probably yes. I just thought, that other members had the same idea/ problems and if they are that kind, this post can be a good chance to share with the community ! 🙂
