elastic & plastic section modulus

Hello,

I wondered whether it is possible to get in a "Properties" bar table the plastic and elastic section modulus values? (Wely, Welz, Wply, Wplz)

So far I could only find Moments on Inertia (Ix, ...) and the Section Modulus for torsional stress (Wx) but not the one mentioned above.

Thanks very much.

Regards,

Thanks Arthur for your prompt response!

Is there any other way of getting these values from RSA? I guess the programme needs calculating them right when carrying out section/bar checks, etc.

Indeed but this is done internally by the Steel design module itself. You can see these values (either or depending of which are used for verification) in the detailed calculation note for verified bar.

Hello again Artur et al.

Eventually I have realised that you can get plastic modulus values in the Section Database tool. and I have done so for some sections I have created in the Section Definition tool and incorporated to a user database and some others from a specific programme database (European and UK).

The question is that some of the sections I have created did not need the Section Definition tool and are not in a database (only in the rtd model file I believe). Is there a way then of seeing these in the database and obtaining properties such as plastic modulus, etc?

Thanks very much, regards,

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. Is your question how to save a section visible in the Sections dialog in a given file to the user section database?

Hello Artur,

Yes, the question is how to see a section created in a given model (rtd file) in the section database. Because in the section database I can obtain values such as the plastic modulus, radius of gyration, etc. I cannot see in other robot tables?

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. Do you mean the one you defined in the Section Builder module and saved in the user section database?

No, I mean the ones you define in the very first "Bar section" or "section" tool in a model, the icon shown as I section in the structural model toolbar. No the section builder tool, I understand sections defined in section builder go to a database.

In the "bar section" tool you can click in new, and select a section from defined standard database (IPE, HEA, etc.) or define, for instance, a parametric I-section. How do you see the properties of these parametric defined sections in "section database"?

You can't as they don't originate from the database. To se them you would need to create them in the Section Builder module, calculate their properties and save them in the user section database. Or use the indicated icon:

save to user database.PNG
