creating Steel truss with different i-beam cross-sections & special connections

Hey Everyone.

I have an old building that i want to make a drawing for it and eventually want to do load analysis for the load that will go on top of its inclined roof. The shape of this barn truss is shown in the picture attached. The cords are as following:

Lower Cord: Double C beam

Upper Cord: T shape Beam ( i know it is called something else but i am just trying to give a picture of what i saw on site, i am not a structural engineer anyway )

Web Cord: L shape Beam

Now, these beam shapes are interconnected using irregular connection ( I mean none of the connection seen on site is found in the connection list in Revit Structure 2019).

I was able to create the shape as shown in the picture , but making this truss over and over with the connections is a tedious process. Given all the above, here are my questions:

1. is it possible to copy the truss shown to form a the building steel truss system? ( i tried copying them but it was not an efficient process because some elements are missing whenever i paste the copied truss. e.g, the connection never been copied)

2. suppose we find a way to copy that and we found a solution to expedite the process , will the connection plates and the connection in general be recognized when we do the structural analysis using revit or Robot Structure?

Thanks for everyone contributing to this important question.

Cheers

Hi @Anonymous

I think that you should be able to create a parametric structure as yours using Robot API via some script in e.g. C+ or Dynamo.

If I managed to answer your question(s) press the Accept as Solution button please. This will help other users to find solution(s) much faster. Thank you.

Thanks Artur for your input. Nonetheless, I am not that teck savvy though, is there any other way to accomplish this?
