Create contour points to slabs at slab/wall intersections

Hi all

I am in the process of modelling a multi-storey RC structure. I intend to mesh my 1st storey slab before applying loads and analysing the slab. I will then copy the structure up ‘n’ number of times to create my tower.

In order to create coherent meshing, I would like to create contour points on my floor slab at wall intersections.

Please see images attached for reference while I explain. My floor slab is a shell element which I defined using several contour points (all existing contour points are shown as blue). I have introduced openings to my slab for stair/lift cores. I would like to create new contour points (red) for coherent meshing purposes.

To do this I have selected the wall and slab and hit the intersect command, however this doesn’t introduce a new contour point. I have also tried selecting the wall edge and the slab and hit interest, but that doesn’t work either.

Can anyone suggest a solution please?

Intersect command only apply to bar elements.

Just mesh the walls 1st ( select them) using " local meshing generation" . Freeze the generated meshes and then when   meshing  the slab ,the program will "find" the wall nodes on the intersecting  common edge

Hello,

I suggest that for every shear wall in your core that you create a grid line.  You can then use DETAILED CORRECT to ensure that all walls and openings are exactly on the grid.

When using DETAILED CORRRCT select the option to display corrected elements.
