Good morning.

I need to carry out a structural analysis of an existing construction which has concrete columns of variable section. I wanted to ask if there is the possibility of representing this section in the Robot Structural Analysis program. I attach an image of the point cloud where the shapes of the columns are shown. frame columns. In these you can see the reduction of area in the lower part.

You can use tapered sections in Robot to simulate such columns while analysis. Robot will not allow for design of such (tapered) column section.

The problem with the section is that it is not conical, it is a rectangular section that varies in section.

Is there any way to design it? That is, dividing the bar and reducing its area, to give an example?

You can simulate column by series of members with rectangular sections of different size.

Such small members (with rectangular but not variable section) can be design in Robot
