hi colleagues,

i need to create a lot of compatible nodes (elastic links with certain stiffness) between slabs. which ways is the easiest?

is it possible to "convert" beams to compatible nodes?maybe with plugin?

thank you for help!

Compatible nodes is for relation between 2 or more bars that share the same node.

It doesn't appear to be your case.

What do you want achieve with your model?

why it's not the case? i am trying to model elastic links with certain stiffnesses in x and y directions between precast slabs with compatibility in z directions. in the previous picture instead of small beams i would like to have a elastic links (see picture attached).

Although "compatible nodes" help file ( https://help.autodesk.com/view/RSAPRO/2020/ENU/?guid=GUID-0E40BF2A-45FB-49A0-90AD-B39BDDCE67F1 ) does not mention the word "panel" , to my surprise , it is possible to use the feature between a bar node and a panel node.

But you have to use it between all edge nodes of the 2 neighbors panels. See the example below

compatible nodes.jpg

So ,in your case , use the elastic tab to set the spring you want between the slabs. , but ,on each bar ,just in one of the bar nodes that connect the 2 panels.

Also , are you sure that your precast slabs are able to transmit moments and tension forces between them?

yes, it is possible to use with panels also, i've already done checks. i do not need to model transfer of moments but only shear forces.

my main question is how to model them efficiently, cause so far as I understood, one needs to choose node by node (master node -slave node) and then pass to another connection and so forth. is there a workaround?

i saw there is a possibility to use scripts, how to use it with compatibility nodes?

I see 3 ways to do it.

1- Compatible nodes - create the little bars , mark the "automatic" option , select the bar nodes on one of the panels . This way you can assign compatible nodes to several bars at once.

2- Use Bar releases , Create just one bar with the proper release and copy to where you want.

3- Linear releases for panels . Assign the releases you want to the whole panel edge.

All 3 options will give the same results( Linear release model is a little different because panel is a little bigger and there are no bars)

All 3 alternatives have the "elastic" tab

compatible, release , linear release.jpg

thank you very much! i will go with releases on beam. as it it easiest and also Krzysztof from autodesk support suggested not to use compatible node options with beam-panel.
