Column-to-column splice connection

Good evening,

Regarding the calculation of the column-to-column splice connection, we can't understand the inequation below:

0.9*(At,net/At) > (fy*gM2)/(fu*gM0)0.90 > 0.80not verified

We searched in the Eurocodes for that inequation and we didn't find anything about it. Can you explain where does it come from and why is it used in Robot Structural Analysis?

Also, when we analyse the inequation, we realise that the more holes the splice plate has, the more favorable it is for the inequation's verification.

This is confusing us and we apreciate some help to understand it.

Best regards,

Hi @Anonymous

Could you attach the RSA files with the connections that correspond to your description of the two issues you would like to have clarification for as well as screen captures wit the relevant parts in the calculation note so that it would be easier to investigate them?

I found this condition for splice connection when design by EC3.

Please see attached image:

Hi @Anonymous and @Anonymous

This is the check that governs the further verification path (depending on the results '>' or '<' the appropriate verification formulas are used). In @Anonymous RSA version the 'verified/not verified' label is not displayed as it was removed as excessively displayed but it is displayed in the older ones including the one @Anonymous is still using.
