Hello All,
I have a Revit file that was sent to me that was apparently created using another software. I need to be able to manipulate this project to create the structural members in the buildings. The issue I'm running into is that only the 3D view displays anything. All of the 2D plans views are blank. Also, everything that does display in the 3D is a Direct Shape, and I can't seem to change the family type of these elements. At this point, I'm not even sure if it's possible for me to do what I'm trying to do with this current model. Although I have a lot of CAD experience (Solidworks modeler by trade), I am very new to Revit and any assistance pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated.
This file is probably an IFC file.
Ask them to send the real file.

as @ArmanMargaryan said, it may be in IFC. I have not seen an IFC come in that cleanly though. there is usually a lot more triangulation on the surfaces from in IFC. Unfortunately I don't have an IFC file to test. In its current condition there isn't much you can do with it though. id be interested in knowing what its origin software is/was.
